There are many different kinds of meditation. In self-acceptance, the four kinds of meditation listed below are used. The forms of meditation used by Barbra are taken from traditional forms of meditation and techniques successfully used in her sessions for many years. The meditations are based on self-acceptance and self-love.
1. Clearing Meditation
2. Affirming Meditation
3. Alert Attention Meditation
4. Guided Meditation
A. Mirroring Meditation
B. Limiting Self-Belief Releasing Meditation
C. Trauma Erase Meditation
The foundation of each meditation is based on the statement, “You are Love as you are.” Labeling something within you as bad or separate is what causes you pain. As you learn to love whatever pain or issue is there, the love pulls the pain or issue back into wholeness. When this is done, you feel better, and pain releases.
One component in all meditation is cultivating the compassionate witness. The compassionate witness is that part of you that observes your mind, emotions, and body sensations without judgment or reaction.
Your mind, emotions, and body are like three children playing war on the playground, in chaos and not able to see or feel the bigger picture. Your compassionate witness is the loving mother sitting at top of the hill over the playground. She lovingly watches, giving guidance if needed.
The compassionate witness could also be called your Higher Mind, Higher Self, True Self, or Spirit. As you practice witnessing within and staying centered, you teach yourself how to remain peaceful and loving, even when you are feeling fear or discomfort. The wonderful product of this inner cultivation to your compassionate witness is that you will, without trying, remain peaceful when external circumstances or conditions are chaotic. Inner peace allows peace in life’s external chaos.
Remaining non-reactive to life’s events allows you to be responsive and take higher action. Through self-acceptance meditations you are able to take actions from your higher truth and love instead of fear and old hurt.
If we don't take time daily to clear present and past hurt; all our actions and words are coming from a limited motivation to prevent the past, defend from hurt, and control things we cannot. Through meditation, we clear out the subconscious storehouse of pain, regret, fear, and stifling caution.
1. Clearing Meditation
Don't try to clear your mind. Don't try to not feel. In the Clearing Meditation, you simply watch, feel, and breathe. Trying to clear the mind and emotions is what keeps you trapped in them. This is how most people try to do meditation. It does not work
In this meditation, you feel whatever you are present to and do nothing. Watch, observe, feel, and breathe. That which you feel with non-reaction or non-judgment releases...that which you resist persists. That which you accept, transforms.
With meditation and self-acceptance, you must move towards the pain instead of away. When you try to escape pain, it becomes suffering. Feel the pain, compassionately witness the pain, and it will release. Healing is feeling. This method works for physical, mental or emotional pain.
2. Affirming Meditation
In Affirming Meditation, you say an affirmation, not to memorize or clear the mind, but to bring up old pain. As you say the affirmation, you clear the ‘static on the line’ that does not allow you to embody this truth.
As you feel the Mud, pain, or static that arises, you naturally line up with this truth. Feeling the pain or resistance that arises as you say the affirmation clears it.
Barbra will commonly use a series of affirmations specific to you in retreats, sessions, or workshops. She will ask you not to ‘try’ to believe it but rather to simply witness and feel your resistance to it. If you don't believe you are loved as you are...then feel that resistance. As you do, you will remember you are loved without trying.
3. Alert Attention Meditation
The Clearing and Affirming Meditations lead to and support the Alert Attention Meditation. As you clear the emotions and witness the mind, it will become still. With this stillness, you will be able to put alert attention onto the energy, Love, or God that surrounds you.
As you stay alert, you deeply listen, like a friend is going to whisper to you a great secret. Deep listening allows you to cultivate your receptivity to hearing your intuitive guidance or voice of God within.
As you stay alert and deeply listen, continue to witness any emotion or thought that arises. Don’t get hooked in and let the emotion or thought ‘high jack’ you. In Alert Attention Meditation you practice having dominion over your attention and focus of the mind, strengthening your inner conviction and inner authority to stay focused on Love, Truth, Beauty, and Compassion.
The Alert Attention Meditation strengthens your mind’s ability to stay focused on your vision or goal. In self-acceptance it is highly recommended to first clear emotion or pain, and then use your mind to stay focused on Love, Beauty, or Truth.
4. Guided Meditation
Guided Meditations are used in workshops, retreats and sessions.
A. Mirroring Meditation
The Mirroring Meditation is a powerful process of clearing and self-empowerment. Any emotion you feel, you feel because it is within you. Someone does not have the power to make you feel any certain way. Owning your emotions to this level is an advanced self-acceptance tool and empowers you to live from your True Self. During this meditation, Barbra will hold the space for you, providing a temporary energetic template of self-acceptance. As the emotions arise, you feel and breathe. You wouldn't prepare for a race the day beforehand right? Why wait until you are around someone who triggers you to stand in your power and speak your truth? In session, Barbra will have you ‘stand in front’ of the person who upsets you the most. It is not the person that upsets you...it is the person you become when you are around them that upsets you. As you remember your innate worthiness, they no longer have the power to trigger you. Take the keys to your happiness back!”
B. Limiting Belief Releasing Meditation
The Limiting Belief Releasing Meditation is a powerful process used to clear your limiting beliefs on self, money, love, sex, life etc. If a belief is true it will come back even stronger, if it is not then you will get an ‘upgrade’. We can only release that which disempowers us. We can only release what is not Real.
C. Trauma Erase Meditation
The Trauma Erase Meditation is a process used in self-acceptance workshops, sessions or retreats. Barbra will hold space for you, which provides a temporary energetic template to let go. She will walk you through the trauma, helping you to clear the emotional and energetic hooks that are negatively affecting your life today.
